Tucked Away House, Grassington

Enjoy walking, cycling, riding, caving, climbing or touring the magnificent Yorkshire Dales from this central Grassington bed and breakfast base in Upper Wharfedale, with its distinctive limestone scenery of hills, drystone walls, barns and livestock. With craft shops, galleries, boutiques, cafe’s and public houses all just one minute’s walk away there’s plenty to do in the village before you even begin to explore the rest of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

 

About us

 

Tucked Away House bed and breakfast was designed by Paul and Hilary and built by a local craftsman in 1999, the couple moved in with the millenium. The house is situated in a quiet corner of Grassington just off the famous cobbled square.

 

Hilary used to work in Human Resources, but now spends her time in her beloved Yorkshire Dales making sure guests receive a warm welcome and comfortable stay at Tucked Away House. Hilary was born and brought up in Wharfedale and will be able to advice on walks and places of interest to visit.

 

Paul is a cabinetmaker and his business Royal Oak Furniture on the moors above the village is an international success story, producing bespoke furniture for embassies and palaces as well as private residences throughout the world. Tucked Away House features his work, from the joinery through to the beautiful furniture. He even made the relaxing sun room.

 

Yorkshire breakfast

 

A hearty traditional Yorkshire breakfast is served in the farmhouse-style kitchen at our large oak refectory dining table. Original beams, flagged floor, a range cooker and antique jugs are complemented by contemporary turquoise kitchen work-surfaces to create a fresh and clean feel to the traditionally styled room.  We hope you enjoy the homely feel as you linger over your breakfast and chat about your plans for the day.

 

Choose from full English breakfast menu options from local farm butchers or lighter continental style breakfast from the bakery and fresh fruit from the deli, all served with freshly made coffee and Yorkshire Tea. We buy locally so you can be assured of the quality and local provenance of your breakfast.

 

Special dietary requirements can be catered for,  including gluten free bread and sausages, but please let us know in advance so that we can make arrangements for special fresh produce suited to your needs.

“Wow fantastic!”

Couldn’t fault this hideaway - beautiful room, food and welcome. Good value for money and nothing was too much trouble. Large bedroom with good size bathroom- right in the middle of Grassington and nearby pubs for drinks and good/ coffee shops. Easy walk to river - we also had cycles and there is a storage shed for these. Fabulous garden to sit in as well!

We have had a fantastic break at the Tucked Away House .First class accommodation surrounded by a beautiful cottage garden. The choices for breakfast were excellent and very well presented Hilary and Paul were very keen to ensure that we saw the best of what the area has to offer. Wonderful people. A perfect weekend . Will definitely be booking another weekend.

 

“Just wonderful”

Spent a great couple of days at Tucked Away House. Got a really warm welcome from Hilary who then showed us our room which was so lovely with a great en suite. We were then served tea and the most beautiful chocolate cake. The garden is so pretty and lovely to sit in after breakfast and after a day out. Talking of breakfasts, well they were just perfect with lots of different cereals, fruit and plain yoghurt, orange juice, toast and full English breakfast as an option which was cooked really well. The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were great too. The breakfasts were served in a beautiful kitchen at a fantastic large table and we were left to eat alone. We will definitely be going back and will take friends too.

This little gem is certainly tucked away ! Hosts Hilary and Paul are most welcoming and friendly. Huge breakfasts lovely bedrooms - two double rooms only makes it cosy and personal . Beautiful gardens Cerainly recommend so impressed booked to return in the autumn.

The Tucked Away House is a lovely house in the heart of Grassington a ideal spot to explore this beautiful part of Yorkshire, Hilary and Paul make you feel very welcome and dished up a great breakfast with plenty of choice. And although knowing the area pretty well Hillary is always on hand with extra advice a compliment to her is someone you felt have known for ever. With a spacious and spotless en suite room and very comfortable bed you can feel right at home here. We were very fortunate to find this gem right in the centre of the town.

 

“An Ideal B & B”

This was the first time we had taken our dog anywhere to stay. Hilary and Paul made us feel very welcome. Our room was spacious. very clean and well appointed and we had lots of good advice on where to visit and walks we could go on. The breakfast's were excellent with plenty of choices. We look forward to returning in the future.
