Parking in Whitby
Although we do not have private parking, there is ample free and unrestricted on street parking directly outside the guesthouse. It is also possible to purchase an off street advanced parking ticket from the Whitby tourist information office (01723 232323) which works out cheaper than the pay and display car parks.
If you do choose to use the pay and display car parks the West Cliff car park is just a couple of minutes walk from our door.
Location
We are ideally located in the quiet residential west cliff area famous for the whale bone arch and Captain Cook monument. Although situated in a quiet area of town it is conveniently close to all that Whitby has to offer.
Just a 2/3 minute stroll will bring you to shops, bars, restaurants, the harbour, beach, Whitby Pavilion and Whitby’s many other attractions.
From our doorstep you can explore the coastal paths of the Cleveland Way, passing through many nearby picturesque villages including Sandsend, Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay.
A 5 minute walk will take you to the cinder track which follows the route of the old Scarborough-Whitby railway line which was laid on cinders rather than the usual crushed stone. The line opened in 1885 and closed in 1965 and the route provides 21 miles of fascinating coast and countryside to explore on foot, horseback or by bike. It passes through eight old station stops and there are plenty of places to enjoy a drink and bite to eat on route. Bike hire is available close by.
A short car/bus journey will take you into the beautiful North Yorkshire moors national park and Dalby Forest.
A 5 minute drive to Whitby Golf Club
A 10 minute walk to Whitby railway station from which departs the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Train.
