The Devonshire Arms
The Devonshire Burlington, Bolton Abbey
The Burlington has the classical and traditional style of a country house hotel with a fresh and exciting menu offering from our head chef Adam Smith. We are delighted to showcase the culinary expertise of one of the UK's most talented young chefs.
Adam's seasonal tasting menu is a stunning & mouth watering treat you simply must try, let him surprise you with his choice of stunning dishes. Despite the formality the warm and friendly welcome along with amazing service will make you feel totally relaxed during your amazing dining experience.
"My food philosophy is based around sourcing the best ingredients possible, utilising the Yorkshire larder when at its best or further afield when necessary. Treating ingredients in manner that allows them to shine, combining classical flavours & methods with my own techniques and presentation style ."
Our kitchen garden here at The Dev produces herbs, edible flowers, fruit & vegetables which Adam uses in his seasonal dishes. His particular favourite herbs are the delicate lemon verbena and aromatic bronze fennel. This year has seen prolific harvests of heritage tomatoes, courgettes, cucumbers, baby beets, strawberries & edible flowers. All our guests are very welcome to explore the garden and see for yourself- in fact we would love you to.

The Devonshire Arms wine cellar
The Devonshire Arms is renowned for having one of the finest cellars in the country – offering house wines through to very rare bottles with four-figure price tags. This Yorkshire restaurants cellar boasts more than 1,500 fine and rare wines and Champagnes. The wine list includes 200 house wines and at least 20 wines available by the glass.
By buying 'en primeur' (before a wine is ready to drink) and laying the wine down for ten years or so, we are able to offer some real gems at less than one can buy them on the high street.
Savour a premier cru bottle and save money
You may even find that the combined cost of staying overnight, dining in The Burlington and savouring a premier cru bottle works out considerably less than the price of that same wine on its own at a London restaurant.
Our Cellar Master, Nigel Fairclough, is passionate about wine and proud to oversee what he firmly believes to be the best restaurant wine list in the country.
At The Devonshire Arms you are spoilt for choice when it comes to wining and dining. We have four rooms which seat from 2 to 90 depending on your requirements.
