”Overnight stay ' wonderful”

Lovely hosts lovely food fantastic views . What a fantastic place to stay room was lovely cosy everything you needed spotless , would of stayed longer if we could will return brilliant thank you Jane bill and Duke.

”Weekend Break”

We booked in for a 2 night stay 5-6 Aug. The room was good value for money, very clean & a lovely view into the fields at the rear of the pub. The breakfast was excellent, selection of cereals, fruit juices, yoghurts & a cooked breakfast or whatever you wish to order. We ate at the pub on both evenings although there are a selection of restaurants in Richmond if desired. The service from the waitress was 2nd to none & would highly recommend both the food & service we received. The interior decor of the pub could do with an update, but I understand the licensee is fairly new so maybe this is on the agenda. If in the area again would definitely return. Thank you.

”Comfortable room”

We stayed here one night, comfortable room, made to feel very welcome. Had an evening meal in the bar area. The food was very good, a couple of tables were booked and locals drinking but lacked a little atmosphere. Breakfast was really good and the couple who run it had just taken over. They were very personable and friendly. Dogs allowed.

”Lovely meal with excellent service”

Popped into the Shoulder of Mutton for the first time in years. The food was good and much better than usual pub grub. The service though was excellent, our waitress was possibly the happiest person on earth. With country pubs on the decline, pubs like this need to keep going.

”Fantastic little gem”

Stayed overnight 25th February, warm welcome from Kirsty. Stayed in the family room , a double bed and a single ensuite. Room had a lovely view over the churchyard and room spotlessly clean. Kirby Hill is four miles from Richmond and close to the A66 , so in an ideal location in the Yorkshire dales. Breakfast was fantastic, selection of cereals, fruit juice and yoghurts followed by a generous full English cooked by the joint owner Matt. Well done Kirsty and Matt the Shoulder of Mutton offers a very warm welcome and very good value for money. My wife and I would recommend a visit to anyone.
