Not only will we welcome you to our bed and breakfast, we'll help you plan the perfect stay in the Yorkshire Dales. Having worked in many different areas of the Dales from Richmond to Hawes, Reeth to Aysgarth, we have a wealth of knowledge of the area, helping you explore all the best spots across Wensleydale, neighbouring Swaledale and down towards Richmond which is a lovely market town definitely worth the visit.

OUR LOCATION

When Visiting the Yorkshire Dales, it can be difficult to decide just where to head for! There are so many beautiful towns and villages across the area from busier market towns such as Leyburn, Richmond, and Hawes to hidden villages including Carperby and Redmire.

Here in Askrigg we're a little bit hidden and that's just how we like it. Our claim to fame is that our little village starred in the hit BBC series All Creatures Great and Small which celebrated the work of James Herriot which is very fitting given that our location is right at the heart of Herriot Country!

While the village may be quiet you won't be at a loss at things to do when heading here for your break in the Yorkshire Dales. We're lucky enough to have 3 pubs in the village along with a village shop and our very own brewery who's beers are sold in all three of our local pubs.

Venture a little further and you'll find a whole host of local attractions to suit anyone no matter what you're interested in. To begin exploring the area a great place to start is Mill Gill Force a spectacular local waterfall just 15 minutes walk from our front door. If You're looking for something a little bigger it's just a short drive to Teesdale where you'll find High Force, You;ll see the River Tees cascading 25 metres down rocks which date back over 300 Million years, a real sight to see and a great stop off on your way to the cathedral city of Durham to check out where Harry Potter was filmed.

Less than a 15 minute drive from us you can delve into both history and film with a visit to Bolton Castle and Aysgarth Falls. Both were used to film scenes for the box office hit Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves starring Kevin Costner.

We might be biased but we really do think that Askrigg is the perfect place to base your stay in the Yorkshire Dales. We've given our guests so many tips they're often soon back to see us to fit in more of our local sights!
