Low Raisgill Bed & Breakfast, Yockenthwaite

Situated between the hamlets of Hubberholme and Yockenthwaite in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, Low Raisgill B&B is a 17th century stone farm cottage with magnificent views of hay meadows, moorland and Buckden Pike. All of our guest bedrooms are on the first floor; three have en-suite shower facilities and the fourth has the exclusive use of a private bathroom.

5 minutes walk from the bridge at Yockenthwaite & The Dales Way, guests who stay here will enjoy the quietness of a landscape that has changed little over the years; the call of the curlews in spring, lambing in April, the summer hay meadows and under the dark skies the Milky Way can still be seen.

Walkers and Cyclists

Three of the Guardian’s "10 of the best walks in the Yorkshire Dales" either pass the house or are less than five minutes’ walk away. There are fabulous walks for all abilities. For long distance walkers the Pennine Journey and the Tributaries Walk pass the house and The Dales Way is close by. More details are available on our website.

We are on the road heading up to Fleet Moss and a locked integral garage is available for safe storage of bicycles. Clothes can be dried in our boiler room.

Food

We both grew up in families with a strong tradition of serving home-cooked food and for over 35 years we have continued to do this in our own home.  It is from this heritage that we are able to offer you fresh home-produced food for your enjoyment.

We make and bake our own bread, brioche, breakfast muffins and afternoon cakes.  We produce our own natural yoghurt, prepare seasonal fruit compotes and every January make marmalade. In all of our cooking, we use the free-range eggs from our hens in the croft.

We are committed to offering our guests the best of locally produced food.  Walkers often start the day with our popular slow-cooked porridge made with Yockenthwaite Farm's traditionally rolled oats or add Yockenthwaite Granola to the homemade yoghurt.

We buy our breakfast sausages and bacon from Weatherhead & Sons Butchers.  Simply put - we feel that they are the best and they can always tell us which Yorkshire farm their meat has been sourced from.

Packed Lunches are available by prior arrangement. Guests are able to choose from a selection of fillings the night before.

Our guests are served breakfast in the Dining Room  between 8.00am and 9.00am.

When booking please remember to let us know if you have any dietary requirements.

Garden and Guest Snug

You are welcome to enjoy our beautiful garden with magnificent views. There is also a snug with TV and a logburner in the dining room for you to sit by on colder evenings.

We look forward to welcoming you.

“Just Amazing”

Keith and Hazel gave a warm and friendly welcome to myself and my 2 friends when we stopped off recently while walking the Dales Way. Their home is beautiful, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Well worth taking off your shoes and putting the slippers they provide on. Keith was extremely helpful chasing up our lost bags and Hazel provided us with warm drinks and the most delicious home mad cake while we waited. Hazel's breakfast was second to none with many of the pre cooked breakfast items cooked or made by her own hand. A very talented woman. Extremely lovely couple with a fantastic B&B in stunning surroundings. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

“A B&B with boutique hotel touches”

Keith and Hazel have created a magical blend of a homely welcome with some frankly luxurious touches you don't expect in a B&B. Beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean, it was a delight to stay here. The breakfast spread of homemade and local produce was a tour in itself. I'd highly recommend it.

“Wonderful!”

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, everything was perfect. Warm homemade shortbread and tea was just what we needed having climbed Buckden Pike. Our room was very comfortable, the bed and bedding superb! We enjoyed a delicious dinner by the log burner and a substantial breakfast with beautiful views over the fells. Hazel and Keith were generous and considerate hosts. We shall definitely return.

“Fantastic stay”

A beautifully decorated home with stunning views. A really warm welcome from Keith and Hazel. Breakfast was delicious homemade bread and lovely free range eggs, and the porridge with warm honey was just what I needed for the next stage of our Dalesway walk. Will be returning.

“Wow!”

Beautifully restored house in beautiful remote location. Recently taken on by Hazel and Keith who do everything they can to make your stay relaxed. Beautiful furnishings, especially good breakfast choice, residents lounge. Large bedrooms with modern en suite facilities. would definitely revisit if in the area again.

“Dales Way Stop over”

Completely over-hauled my preconceptions of B&B's. Beautifully updated. Made to feel very welcome - tea and cake on arrival. Home cooked, delicious evening meal and superb breakfast. Comfortable beds with lovely bedding. Delightful hosts. Would highly recommend - even if you are not walking the Dales Way!

“Very welcoming”

Hazel and Keith greeted us by name as we shed our wet and muddy hiking gear in their garage to dry. Hazel served tea and shortbread to warm us. Keith drove us to The George Inn for dinner after a day's walk in the rain. Breakfast was delicious, as was our packed lunch. Hazel and Keith are both friendly hosts who made us feel at home in their lovely home.
