The Yorkshire coast offers everything from quaint hamlets hugging dramatic cliffs that rise from picturesque bays, to some of the best seaside resorts in the country. Our properties range from character filled cottages to contemporary apartments with fantastic views. Our cottages in the many pretty villages along the coast or a little inland are always popular. You won’t be far from the many stunning coastal bays and villages as well as the inland beauty of the North York Moors National Park or the Yorkshire Wolds. Scarborough and Filey are brilliant bases if you want a mixture of seaside fun and action packed days with miles of golden sandy beaches and a variety of attractions and facilities. In Whitby you can potter around the cobbled streets lined with individual shops or if you’re feeling energetic, climb the 199 steps to the Abbey which inspired the novel Dracula, or find out more about the town’s maritime heritage and life of explorer James Cook in one of the museums. Don’t leave without sampling Whitby fish and chips, just one of the town’s local edible treats.
The Yorkshire Moors has the largest expanse of heather moorland in England, and offers some of the best unspoilt scenery in Yorkshire. Our moorland properties are ideal for a holiday or short break if you want to get away from it all and enjoy some peace and quiet. For a bit more hustle and bustle, experience traditional Yorkshire life in the towns and villages, where delicious Yorkshire produce can be enjoyed. Thisis great walking country and you can often enjoy superb walks from your doorstep through beautiful countryside. This area is also an excellent base for a sightseeing holiday. Within easy reach for days out are Yorkshire’s coast and the historic city of York, as well as many of the attractions within the Yorkshire Dales. And don’t forget to look up the events that are on when you visit. The popular agricultural shows provide fun for all the family.
In the Yorkshire Dales, the deep green valleys, wide meandering rivers, heather clad fells and criss-crossing dry stone walls are typical features of the landscape. You can best enjoy it by walking or cycling and you’ll get a great Yorkshire welcome from the locals. Our Dales properties can be found in the market towns and many villages within the National Park and Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you prefer to get away from the “hotspots”, the area to the west of the Dales and on the northern fringe of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty will make exploring both Yorkshire and Lancashire easy. Wherever you are in the Dales, you won’t be far from some excellent visitor attractions. This is the home of Wensleydale cheese and youu can taste the different varieties by visiting the Creamery at Hawes. If local ale is your thing, both Theakston’s and Black Sheep beer are brewed in the Dales.
