Street Head Caravan Park, Bishopdale
Street Head Caravan Park is in an area justly famed for unspoilt natural beauty and is a haven for walkers of all ages and experience. Well signposted footpaths take you literally up hill and down dale, over remote hilltops and moorland or from village to village, often with least one welcoming pub at the beginning or end.
Our caravan park is also the perfect touring base for the Yorkshire Dales, Cumbria, The Lake District and for both the North East and North west coasts.
Street Head Caravan Park is a small, privately owned site, in the heart of Bishopdale, within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Situated on the Aysgarth/Kettlewell Road only 1.5 miles from the beautifully impressive Aysgarth Falls and surrounded by peaceful grazing land the park affords magnificent views across the dale and to the fells beyond.
Such a genuinely rural location with unobscured scenery is a rare find these days when sites are often rigorously screened within the landscape and consequently have limited views for their visitors to enjoy.
Facilities
Showers, hand basins and toilets are maintained in scrupulously clean conditions by the proprietors and visitors kindly requested to inform them at the earliest opportunity should standard of hygiene be less than acceptable for any reason.
Two large sinks are provided in a separate block for the convenience of visitors without their own washing-up facilities. In the interests of hygiene, visitors are politely requested to make use of only these purpose-built facilities for washing up and for hand washing of clothes.
The laundry is equipped with a large capacity washing machine, separate tumble dryer and iron. All are coin operated. An ironing board is also provided. Mains electrical hook-ups are available. The proprietors will be pleased to organise this for you on arrival. Controlled well behaved dogs are allowed.
Local Amenities
The Street Head Inn is friendly, informal and convenient – just next door to the park offices! An excellent selection of local brews is served in addition to a full range of wines and spirits. Meals to suit every taste and appetite are available lunchtime and evenings.
Thornalby is within easy walking distance (approx. 0.5 mile). A typical quiet dales farming community this picturesque village has a well stocked general store/ post office offering newspapers, wines and local produce. There is also a quiet traditional pub.
West Burton (1.5 miles) has been described as one of the most loveliest villages in England. Cottages and houses are ranged either side of a central village green, and here can be found a butcher, post office and general store, pottery and lively public house.
A National Parks Information Centre at Aysgarth Falls can supply local and touring information, guides and souvenirs. Full details of walks and other organised activities are listed in ‘The Visitor’ which is freely available from the Centre.
