Bed & Breakfast Accommodation
The Hay Loft
This is a generous sized room where the original line of the hay loft has been retained, together with an exposed stone wall. It is furnished in light oak and has a comfortable King-sized bed and easy chairs for watching TV or simply gazing through the window and absorbing the stunning views over Combe Scar and the surrounding sheep-grazed fells. The en suite bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower.
The Dairy
“The Dairy” is a cosy suite of character on the ground floor but on two levels. The bedroom is approached down two stone steps and has a polished flag floor (with a rug, of course). It possesses a double bed and easy chair, the LED TV has a USB port. There are three narrow windows one of which looks towards Helms Knott, the others peek onto the side garden. The upper level has a small hallway and a shower room which benefits from a generous walk-in shower
The Byre
This is also a ground floor bedroom, but all on one level. The original Louis XV twin beds are three inches wider than a single bed and have deep, handmade mattresses. There are stunning views over the meadows, towards Combe Scar and Middleton Fell. The spacious shower room has a large shower unit.
Breakfast
We endeavour to start your day with the finest of breakfasts, freshly prepared and cooked to order. The first course buffet comprises of juices, fresh fruit salads, cereals, nuts, seeds and yoghurts and, if you let us know the night before, Joe’s creamy porridge is to die for!
Meanwhile, we will prepare for you, your choice of cooked breakfast. The full Dales breakfast includes local, award-winning sausage and blackpudding! The eggs are free-range and the bread together with some of the preserves are made in our own kitchen. There is an interesting choice of dishes for the smaller appetite and in addition, poached haddock, salmon or smoked salmon as an alternative. A wide range of breakfast, fruit and herbal teas and coffees are available.
It will be a pleasure to cater for the vegetarian or any other special diet required (but please let us know beforehand in order that we can do our best for you). The breakfast-room allows for individual tables, however, these can be extended if friends wish to take breakfast together.
Dining
With sufficient notice we can provide you with a light evening platter of our highly recommended soup, wholesome sandwiches or seasonal salads, slice of home-baked cake or fruit pudding and tea or coffee at a cost of £15 per person.
For an evening meal, there are several pubs in the area and sometimes the tea-shops are open in the evening, especially during the summer months. There are also restaurants in Kirkby Lonsdale and slightly further afield.
