Brasserie1 is an informal, contemporary recent addition to the grand Victorian Spa Hotel the Craiglands situated within walking distance of the centre of the lovely Yorkshire town of Ilkley. Brasserie1 and the adjoining Bar have French windows which open out onto a Terrace at the front of the hotel with views of the hotel's gardens and the Yorkshire Moors beyond. The 'Cow and Calf' are just a ten minute walk from the hotel.
The décor in Brasserie1 is a pleasing mix of modern design and traditional quality with the benefit of a light bright environment and on winter evenings an open fire adding to the ambience.
The menu combines simplicity with excellent locally sourced ingredients and offers a relatively narrow selection to ensure a consistently high standard with the choice changing regularly to maximise the use of produce appropriate to each season. All dishes are homemade using fresh ingredients with appetisers typically from the simplicity of sautéed tiger prawns with a rocket salad and wild garlic butter, buffalo mozzarella with an avocado and tomato salad and a pomegranate and basil dressing to a pressed ham hock and leek terrine with pease pudding and a truffle jus.
Main courses may include a duo of English lamb with lamb chops and a mini shepherd's pie or grilled lemon and paprika chicken with rocket and an orange and pine nut salad. Our meat is all sourced from the famous Ilkley butcher David Lishman and Lishman's award winning pork sausages with colcannon and a mustard sauce is a particular favourite.
All our sweets are freshly prepared with raspberry doughnut, nougat and pistachio ice cream certainly not for the faint hearted and chocolate crème brulee with a cinder toffee crumb also very popular.
Brasserie 1 opens for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner 7 days a week and offers the best carved Sunday roast in Ilkley.
